I was pleasantly surprised by my Nissan rental and its fobs. I resent having to carry both fobs lashed together because rental, but the overall experience was quite nice.

I was so very happy the car was smarter than me when I tried once to lock the fobs inside.

When they started migrating to becoming personal computers, like phones did. I’m surprised you don’t have to FaceTime or Skype your car from it and ask nicely for it to let you in yet.

I was going to make the same point. FEATURES AND FANCY!

It’s because they can, not because they should.

And to think, I complain that all of my cars have three* keys.... They take us less room that that thing.

Door/ignition/glovebox/trunk/fuel door, etc.

I still remember 15 years ago when they were trying to make everything small and smaller. Apple people used to laugh at Samsung people of how big their screen was, then soon after they ha d the same size screen, then larger, etc...

I think I prefer Tesla’s “your phone is your key” approach to whatever this monstrosity is. My Corolla has a normal sized key fob and even that can be quite awkward in my pocket.
